A building's electrical distribution system is the backbone that carries power safely from the utility supply to every light, socket and machine. In Kuwait, that system has to satisfy the Ministry of Electricity & Water (MEW) regulations while coping with high ambient temperatures and heavy air-conditioning loads. Getting the distribution board layout right at the design stage prevents nuisance tripping, voltage drop and costly rework later.

From main board to final circuit

Power typically enters at a main distribution board (MDB), is split into sub-main distribution boards (SMDB) for each zone or floor, and finally reaches the final distribution boards (DB) that feed individual circuits. Each tier needs correctly rated protective devices, clear circuit schedules and enough spare ways for future expansion. We label every board and circuit so facility teams can trace a fault in minutes rather than hours.

Sizing, derating and coordination

Cable and breaker sizing in Kuwait must account for ambient-temperature derating, grouping factors and the long cable runs common in large plots. Protective devices are selected for discrimination, so a downstream fault clears at the nearest breaker instead of tripping the whole building. We verify earth-fault loop impedance and prospective short-circuit current before energising.

Testing and handover

Before a board is put into service it is inspected, insulation-tested and function-tested, then recorded on an inspection and test plan. We provide as-built schedules and panel schedules so the client has a clear record for maintenance and MEW inspection.
